Instructors Andrew Young is an artist, designer, media specialist, educator and advocate.   Betsy Renfrew is an artist, educator and documentarian. These two individuals are serving as teachers, and as liaisons, in the Global Village Revisited project. They are substantively informing, framing, and facilitating an array of interactions between the Montagnard community and the UNCSA community. In Young's words: "Since 2007, I have been working with my partner, Betsy Renfrew, to study specific community and regional issues and see how we could use our professional skills to tackle them. We found ourselves looking hard at chronic, unresolved issues involving community, technology, literacy, food, health, and cultural diversity. We found ourselves framing those issues differently. Where others saw problems, we saw strengths to build on. We found new solutions."   Bob King is a Media Studies instructor in the Undergraduate Academic Program at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (and the keeper of this blog!) In King's words: "Over time, I have arrived at three main distillates or aphorisms that describe the goals of my teaching. I seek to provide an environment for students to: 1) explore ways to optimize reading/interpreting and writing/creating content in a variety of media, including but not limited to text, 2) do creative work with intelligence, and intellectual work with creativity, and 3) make education as if the world mattered."
